🍂🎃 Gothic, Steamy Fall Vibes with a Vampire!🍂🎃
I ADORED Jessica Gadziala's My Big Fat Vampire Wedding!! Victor & Pandora were the perfect couple for me. From their meet-cute in an appropriately Gothic, creepy bookstore where of course Pandora had known Victor for longer than he had known her. Isn't that the way of it sometimes, where one person (especially the Woman) these days has been checking the guy out for a while to make SURE he's not a creepy creep? To their first time alone in the Von Ashmore Estate (Pandy's parents home.)
I had so much fun with Pandora's extended family, especially Aunt Ravenna and Uncle Reginald, Aunt and even her cousin Elias - even when he's supposed to be wearing Lucy down smidgen by smidgen. Instead watching Lucy and Elias battle it out with their words was so much fun! Aunt Ravenna's 'dinner for the human family' was a RIOT, and I found myself gigglesnorting all the way through that! The only one I was ready to go to stakes for Pandy for literally was Bellatrix, how could one little cousin be such a pain in the a$$? From the operatic singing way off-key (my ears hurt just imagining it!) to trying to put Victor under a Glamour, Bellatrix was just down bad to create a bad time for all those around her, no matter who it was.
There is a small third act break up that almost had me in tears because if Victor and Pandora had just communicated things earlier on, none of that would have been necessary. I did like Lucy's thoughts on how to get Victor back and how to best manage the situation without telling him that Pandy is a Vampire, but Pandora handles it with her many years of grace and aplomb and without ruining the situation like any goofy human would do.
I was so very happy with their time together, including their Vampire Moon! Pandora answers all of Victor's questions openly and honestly without attempting to hide anything from him. Victor is very smart and had run a pretty good investigation, only going so far as to keep his parents from knowing what Pandora really is and keeping her privacy intact.
This has to be one of my favorite books of all time by Jessica Gadziala, and I can only hope that someday there will be a sequel with Lucy and Elias eventually. This is truly a beautiful book, at a wonderful time of year for all kinds of Gothic and Halloweeny Vibes!!
