🧚‍♂️ Flame Cursed Fae is A FABULOUS Trilogy of Games & Trials, And a SLOOOOW Burn!!🧚‍♂️

    The Flame Cursed Fae Series by Eliza Raine has become one of my favorite this year. It is a three book series based on the Valkyrie Fae and the world's they live in, and who the gods are choosing to become the new Valkyrie.

Maddy and her sister, Freydis, live in the Ice Court. Their parents have hidden Maddy away for years based on her headaches, and fainting spells, and prepared Freydis to be chosen for the trials to be a Valkyrie. While hiding Maddy away, they have used her as a spy to overhear the most essential pieces of gossip throughout the kingdom. 

When the older Valkyrie come to pick up the new ones, Maddy hears someone tell her to stand up. As she does so the old Valkyrie are irritated to find out there is a second daughter, especially when they have their own needs for why they are picking new Valkyrie. 

Maddy is taken instead of Freydis, and this is when things start getting really interesting! The MMC is such a giant red flag he has to wear gloves before he can touch anyone, and he's only in Featherblade as punishment because they believe he killed several people many years ago.

Kain, the MMC, follows Maddie wherever she goes and the other Valkyrie in training believe he's stalking her, but is he really stalking her or does he believe she's hiding things? Knowledge that might help prove his innocence after all these years?

Throughout the series there are a series of games and trials, and each of the Valkyrie in training gets an animal spirit that is only supposed to be seen by them. But this new set of Valkyrie has a new set of magic, they can see each other's animal. Will this help them all, or will it give strength to certain ones to take down the others?

In the meantime, Kain and Maddie are getting closer and closer, and when this slow burn finally tips off y'all? They're STILL not touching each other, but it is SO HAWT!! 

By the end of the series we find out what the new Valkyrie are meant to fight, and it's not just Giants! Someone is a traitor, and the twist will leave your head spinning! 

I love this series, the side characters that help support Maddy, and even Kain will surprise you, and the antagonist came out of nowhere!! I love the disability representation, and the slooooow burn is everything. I am a HUGE fan of games and trials, and what often felt like a treasure hunt - especially in Maddy's memories. Could she get there before the bad members of her family moved ahead of her? Often it was like one giant chess board. This is definitely a five star series for me, and one I could see myself revisiting!
