🐺 SPICY, Original Fated Mates!!🐺
I really enjoy PNR (paranormal romance), and I'm always down for a good time with a new Authors book so I was really excited for Lucia Skye's Fated Hearts. Ava and Logan are a quick, fun read at only 294 pages in paperback, so I'm not sure what that adds up to on Kindle. I've been trying to buy more in paperback form lately after an Author said "the only book you own is the one you hold in your hands", but if that's not an option please support your local library!
Anywho, I really enjoyed Ava's character for the most part. I loved that she stood up for herself, and that she wasn't afraid to take steps to remove people in her life who weren't bringing her peace. There are some points where she does come across as kind of silly, or just not catching on fast enough that there are some really big changes going on in her life and her body. I think, even for fiction, I'd have probably been asking more questions than she was. She just kind of buried her head in the sand more than necessary.
I really, REALLY enjoyed the secondary characters. Kaiden and Malaki, and the entire secondary storyline about the Kabal and Kaiden and Malaki's kind of magic, and how they use it to help those in the community around them is really what drove me to finish Fated Hearts. I really loved the story arc between these two and the rest of the community. Logan's sister (and Beta) Emily is also fascinating, and I adored her interaction with her brother. There is a part near the end that I don't want to ruin for you, but Emily working to help all three men, and just stepping in and stepping up really made me thrilled with Ms. Skye's writing.
Logan is probably just not my type of guy. Yes, he's the Pack Alpha, but I think there's still a way to do that without making him over the top aggressive. He will probably really be the exact kind of person a lot of readers want, just probably not mine this time.
Fated Hearts is also a REALLY SPICY read, and there are a few scenes that should be expected within paranormal Shifter Romance, so while I love Shifter Romance and sometimes do not mind some blood on the page - just check your triggers.
I'm really looking forward to Lucia Skye's next book, Iris and Kaiden's A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light; I think as the series grows I'm going to fall more in love with it.
