🩸🐺 Enthralling, Intriguing, TOP FIVE of 2025!!🐺🩸

     Sable Sorensen is a new to me Author, and Dire Bound is in my top five for 2025 so far!! It is Enchanting, intriguing, addicting, and there's not one, BUT TWO twists at the end! I was so unprepared, even a week later I'm thinking about this book daily.

Meryn is the FMC who joins the Army when her sister, Saela, goes missing - one of many children grabbed by a group called the Nabbers. Meryn knows that Saela has been taken across enemy lines by the Nabbers to be served to the Syphons and the only way to get her back is by being as close to the front as possible. 

Meryn is involved with a gorgeous, hunk of a guy who seems to be a golden retriever who works at the Palace. He and Igor (Meryn's trainer) promise to watch over her mother while she's gone, and then imagine Meryn's surprise when she reports to the recruitment office to find she's not going to the front, but instead she's going to the Dire Wolf Trials! 

Y'all, if you read Fourth Wing and you thought the parapet was awful, just imagine climbing a whole mountain to find your Dire Wolf if no one kills you and you don't fall off the mountain!! It was CRAZY! I don't think I've sped through any chapters so fast just to make sure Meryn lived, AND to meet her Wolf. Thankfully Meryn meets some friends on the way up whose family were already Dire Bound, so they're a little healthier, taller, and they've been trained their whole lives in what to expect from the mountain.

The biggest problem in this whole part of Dire Bound? Meryn doesn't want to be there. She wants to be out looking for her sister, so even after meeting her Wolf - Annassa, she's just making things harder on herself.

The trials are fabulous, so risky I swear my blood pressure was going up every time Meryn or her friends - Venna and Izabel trip or fall. And to make things even better, there's another MMC (it's not like a love triangle though!) Stark is one of the trainers, and his Wolf is Craton, and from the very first day he's there to be an enormous thorn in Meryn's backside!

Stark is constantly there, constantly watching, and whenever Meryn screws up it seems as though he's there to make fun of her, or is he? 

Suddenly someone is offering Meryn a special helping hand, even with her Wolf who she still hasn't been able to communicate with because y'all, she won't swallow her pride and ask for help. 

Finding out things aren't as they seem, and that she and Annassa are destined for more than what is happening right then, Meryn finally sets aside her pride and she and Annassa become a fearsome duo, but the nightmare is not over!! The visions and the trials are not over, and I cannot wait for y'all to see the twists that had my jaw on the floor! 

Dire Bound was absolutely mind blowing, and I cannot WAIT until July when the second book is released! It does end in a cliffhanger, but y'all please don't let that deter you, you NEED this book! It is one of the best books on survival and friendships, and who really has your back even when you can't see them I've read in years. This is what makes me love Fantasy!! 

** This in my opinion is more Fantasy than Romantasy, there's some spice, but not a huge amount, but there IS a lot of war, death, some self-harm that's not on the page, but is talked about. Please check your triggers.
