🖤✨️ Beautifully, Sad, Dark Love Story!!✨️🖤

Lucy and Casziel have become two of my favorite characters this year! Emma Scott's The Sinner is not a new book, but she is a new to me Author, and her words are SUBLIME.

Lucy Dennings is a woman lost in her own head, one like many of us that goes to work, comes home and spends the rest of the evening lost in a Romance novel or two because she believes that is the best place for her to be. She doesn't have many friends, and she recently lost her father, and she is sad all the time when she's not lost in her books.

On Lucy's way home one day home she runs across what she assumes is a dead body, only to find that Casziel is not dead. And suddenly Casziel is trying to explain to her how he got there,  and exactly what he wants with her.

Casziel is a demon who lost Lucy many, many years ago and his whole plan is to make Lucy fall in love with someone else again so he doesn't have to think of her again. Cas is the perfect grumpy guy, Lucy has all these questions as anyone would for this guy that just randomly showed up, but he hates answering her questions and that just makes her even grumpier.

Lucy has the perfect suggestion, Cas can pretend to be in love with her and it will make this guy (his name is Guy 🙄!)  in her office fall in love with her. She just knows he's the one for her, even though he's spent months? years? ignoring her. Cas is immediately jealous of this situation, but still working hard to make it perfect for Lucy, while in the meantime he only has 7 more days to be there and get this all done.

I loved the side story of why Cas is trying to make Lucy forget him, why she's remembered him through all these lifetimes, and who these little demons are that are there to make her feel bad about herself on the daily. The battle Cas is waging for Lucy is heartbreaking, and this is one of the few books this year that made me cry throughout the story.

Emma Scott's writing is perfection, there is so much grief she touches on with the death of Lucy's dad, and trying to salvage Lucy and Cas's relationship, I was sure that this would not have an HEA, but I was so surprised by the beautiful ending and how everyone got exactly what they needed AND deserved!

If you like a beautifully sad love story, with a sublime ending then  Emma Scott has written a gorgeous story just for you in The Sinner. I'd give it 6 stars if I could!!
