☆☆☆Gorgeous Friends To Lovers, Ranch Romance!!☆☆☆

 Sadie and Jude are probably my favorite so far in the Plain Daisy Ranch Series. Jude is so serious, and Sadie is so hopeful but neither of them communicate with each other on a regular basis.

When Sadie has to pivot in the middle because no one has ever been honest with her before, I felt so bad for her. Walking into that bank with those girls snickering behind her like they're still in eighth grade, I think we've all been in a position like that before. I was not expecting that loan officer to come right out and say what she did though, some people don't have the class God gave a grape. 

Poor Jude, he for some reason feels less than. I don't know if it's because he had to grow up so fast, or because his brothers are so loud in comparison to him, but there's NOTHING less than about him. When he finally spills it with Sadie, I was so hopeful he would say right then that he loved her, but of course we have to have some ANGST!! 

Sadie's friend that blows into town, and expects everything to be going her way, I don't know what she really expected. Maybe she thought Sadie would go out on the town with her, but that's just not Sadie's way.

Unfortunately when Sadie does tell her how she really feels about Jude, he's nowhere to be found listening, and instead makes up his own assumption. Well you know what they say happens when people assume things, silly man.

The angsty part kicks in right about here, and I honestly didn't know if Jude and Sadie were going to make it, especially when Sadie gets drunk and announces to the town that they were always a joke. Just when there's an opportunity for some real communication, Sadie comes up with another reason to lock herself down tight and Jude honestly believes he's losing her. 

The One I Stood Beside has it all, humor, grief, some very sexy, sweet, steamy times, and a heck of a lot of angst that almost brought me to tears! If you love Cowboy Romance with a side of forced proximity, and friends to lovers this book is definitely for you!! Piper Rayne knocked this one out of the park!!
