💛💃 Gorgeous Latinx Enemies To Lovers & Marriage of Convenience!!💃💛

Oh WOW y'all, I'm in LOVE with Adriana Herrera and A Carribean Heiress in Paris!! This book has landed quickly in my top five for 2024, and I cannot WAIT to read the next one in the series!!

Luz Alana is a Dominican Woman traveling to Paris from Hispaniola to sell her rum before traveling on to Scotland to unravel the money her father left her when he died. She is traveling with her friends Manuela and Aurora, and her little sister Clarita. She and her friends are known as Las Leonas, and their honour, and camaraderie throughout the book hit the sweet spot for me!

"Women had to fight for the very oxygen they breathed, and Luz purposefully claimed any space she entered. Leonas didn’t cower to anyone. They roared."

When Luz Alana finally meets Evan it's because he is of course making an a$$ of himself by moving her product out of his way. When she confronts him he's fascinated by her strength and ability to take up her space so he offers to share the space which just infuriates her further.

I loved the back and forth between Evan and Luz Alana. The instant spark is just HAWT, but even hotter is her knowledge that if she wants to succeed in Paris - or anywhere really, she has no choice but to stand up for herself. Where normally I am frustrated by the miscommunication in books like this, I adored Evan coming back so quickly to apologize when he knows he is wrong.

I love, LOVE the parts where he's asking questions about her cordials and she explains that her Grandmother's master wanted her to write down the recipes and she refused, but then started selling them as soon as she was freed. The fact that Ms. Herrera writes into the conversation how quiet the room is after Luz Alana explains that, like a room full of English men and women have no idea how to respond to that. It's very honest, and very telling about society during that time.

Luz and Evan's relationship continues to heat up even though it is just supposed to be a marriage of convenience, and Luz is realizing more and more quickly that she is in love with Evan, but he's holding something back from her. If he's not willing to tell her the truth now then how could she stay with him?

The suspense in A Caribbean Heiress in Paris is fascinating, and spans several different countries, a fight over a dukedom and so much money being stolen and wasted. The love between Evan and Luz Alana is so strong, but it all depends on whether or not she decides to stay in the end. I am in love with my very first book by Adriana Herrera and the first BiPOC Historical Romance I've ever read. It definitely will not be my last!!
