☆☆☆Kristen Ashley's Gloriously Angsty, Enemies To Lovers!!☆☆☆

Elsa and Hale's story is powerful, buttersweet, and filled with love - even if both characters won't acknowledge it for far too long.

Both Elsa and Hale are known, KNOWN, for responding quickly without giving things a chance to shake out. So when Elsa sees Hale holding Sasha's hand, she just dropped him as a matter of course and left Hale feeling truly hurt after a really lovely date (that they both actually enjoyed.)

Hale, instead of having a valuable conversation with Elsa, just pulls further back and ices Elsa out which encourages her to do more of the same. When they finally come together again, Hale is still flinging red flags left and right, not really wanting to discuss his own life, but more than willing to get deeply involved in Elsa’s. I took all this as a sign of him being closely raised by Corey Szabo, but Fighting The Pull shows there are only two real episodes where Hale got advice from Corey regarding women that he listened to, or so it appears.

As Elsa and Hale's relationship moves forward, it's readily apparent that even though Hale had an excellent father figure in Tom (Genny's) husband, he had watched fervently how Szabo the Elder took care of the women and children in his life, and he plans on going as far the opposite direction as he can. Unfortunately by doing this, Hale has removed all healthy options from his life, and he will probably end up ruining the most beautiful relationship he's ever had.

While all this is going on we get a front row seat to Chloe and Judge's wedding, more of Vaughn's bizarre behavior (and exactly WHO hired to keep track of keeping the Szabo, Pierce and Holloway Families safe) and to spend time with the beautiful Mika, Nora, and Jamie Duncan.

I have to say The River Rain series is one that has grown on me through every single book until this one, where I finally have the answers I needed about Corey Szabo and they made me want to lay on my floor sobbing. I do still want to know more about Rhys Vaughn, even if it's just in a novella, I think that would give team Kristen Ashley all the final answers we need.

I enjoyed Elsa and Hale's love story, the angst, fight, dominance and submission is always beautiful to me, especially when the ending is so absolutely glorious!!
