⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Phenomenal, Emotional Read!!

Marley Valentine has succeeded in breaking my heart in this beautiful, epic love story only to seal it up again by the end with the most gorgeous, healing words, and dreams.

Jesse and Leo start out as so many Queer couples do with one or both of them carrying around so much damage, but seemingly healed by the love they give each other and with the found family they bring with them.

When life intervenes and breaks them down it's so easy to see that the healing was never real, and at least one of them has been carrying all the damage quietly while the other is ALWAYS the glue that holds everyone together.

My heart disintegrated during everything Leo was feeling, but for me even more so watching Jesse DEMAND that the glue hold up while no one was helping hold him together. I felt like sobbing every time Jesse had to run to save one more person, just knowing that eventually he was going to crack himself and hoping there would be someone there to catch him.

The found family surrounding Leo and Jesse did an amazing job of bearing up under the strain and trying to catch both these men, and by the end of the book i absolutely adored everyone involved.

Ms. Valentine has done a phenomenal job showing the heartbreaking emotion involved in this kind of a loss, and how easy it could be to walk away from one another forever. Her strength in being able to pull these characters back from the brink is one of the reasons she remains one of my favorite authors. I would give this book ten stars if they were available to me, but five will have to do. What We Broke deserves every star available to it!!
