☆☆☆Gorgeous Second Chance Romance!!☆☆☆
Stephanie Rose broke my heart open with Dominic and Thea, two lovers that went their own way because Dom could not forgive himself for not noticing his Mom was sick with cancer and he would not allow Thea to comfort him in his time of sorrow.
The Narrators, Zachary Webber and Lessa Lamb did a fantastic job, not only with the accents but also with the emotion built into every piece of dialogue they shared. Whether it was Dom throwing off everyone with his sarcasm and dry humor, or Thea with her grief and anger she finally let shine through at being left behind - and the other sadness she was forced to suffer without Dom by her side.
I really loved Dominic's character, and I could completely understand blaming himself for not noticing sooner, and being angry that his family had hidden it even if it was only for a few weeks. Having a loved one diagnosed with cancer, and then suddenly gone whether it's a year or a month leaves you to question so many things, and if you're not strong enough to hold your own the only thing you want is to be alone, no matter what your family is trying to give you.
I felt shattered all the way through for Thea, being abandoned by the one she loved, even when she was trying to take care of him and then having her own world fall apart, there was just so much pain. I was so happy when they were given the chance to come back together, but I could see without real honesty, it was never going to work.
This has to be one of my absolute favorite second chance, slow burn romances in the last several years. The Audible just makes it all that much more real for me, and every time we got closer to the part where Thea and Dom were going to have to be completely honest, I kept wondering if this was the point where their relationship would break on the rocks again. But Stephanie Rose is an expert at closing the gaps, and leading the couple right back where they need to be!
Five out of five stars for healing this beautiful couple, and giving Dom and Thea the chance to get it right the second time around!!
