☆☆☆If you love the broody, depressed hero than Nash is definitely your guy!!☆☆☆

“Friends make friends better. We accept the bad parts, celebrate the good parts, and we don’t torture you for your mistakes ,”

Things We Hide From The Light is almost a deeper dive into Knockemout, Virginia with little shady parts at the beginning that aren't meant to make sense until closer to the end. Like why was Knox helping Lina move into the apartment next to him? Was it really just like Lucian (Lucifer himself for the majority of this book!) said, and she's trying to get extra info from Nash so she can use him?

I never, ever got that from Lina until Lucian and Knox started threatening her for being too close to Nash - and of course threatening Nash (Knox) if he hurts Lina. Lina seems set on a course in Knockemout to help Nash, even if helping him is of the sexy variety. Stefan Liao seems determined to make sure everyone knows that the Chief and Lina were caught in a sexy, compromising position  - even when what they were really doing right then is rescuing an incredibly anxious, dirty dog!

“Being vulnerable doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you trust yourself to be strong enough to handle the hurt. It’s actually the purest form of strength."

Of course right when Lina comes upon the information she needs, Lucian - AKA Lucifer, decides to throw her under the bus again, making both Lina and Nash vulnerable given that they both know a lot of secrets about one another. Nash has to decide if Lina was out and out lying to him, or if she was just trying to protect him. While Lina needs to decide whether or not Nash is trying to use her as a crutch, or... does he really love her?

In order to make all these decisions she has to steer clear of Knox, Lucian, and oh yeah - Cereal Aisle Guy!! Lucy Score's best brand of Romantic Comedy, with a little Romantic Suspense thrown in for good measure, and all these really good little niblets to hold onto that give you pieces to think about.

The side characters are a riot as usual, and mixed with some really bad guys where Ms. Score lays down the important things in life as Nash deals with a cop that's out of line, citizens trying to protect him while protecting their own families, and Knox and Naomi trying to get married and deal with infertility issues later in life. You know the real life stuff, not the pretend stuff we'd all love to bury. I love how she talks about them in real time, not as though when the book ends so do the problems.

Five out of five stars for Nash and Lina, Lucifer and Sloane, Waylay, Knox and Naomi, and a TON of dogs!! I'd give it so many stars it wouldn't be rate-able if I could!
