☆☆☆A Fresh Look for Kristen Ashley!☆☆☆

  

  Kristen Ashley is killing it in my first book of 2022!! I had no idea what to expect, but this light on the romance, heavy on the psychological thriller was not it. That said, I am anything but disappointed. 

Ms. Ashley is writing in a fresh voice I don't believe we've ever heard from her, but if you need a comparison - it has a slightly more thriller component than Complicated.

Delphine Larue the FMC is part of the fresh voice Ashley is using in The Girl In The Mist in that she's not mid twenties or thirties, she is in fact 53. She's written as captivatingly sexy regardless of her age, probably because the focus is more on her kindness, wit and intelligence, and of course her sarcasm rather than the tightness of her blouses and the tautness of her bum.

Regardless of this refreshing new character type, there are things about her that will never change. Delphine stands her ground, takes up her own space, and spends her extra time passing out love and care to the children of the man she finds herself falling in love with.

Cade Bohannon is fairly typical of Kristen Ashley's male characters. Alpha type, somewhat growly, but as we've seen as Hawk ages - Cade is a good man. He has his stuff figured out, he's not out throwing temper tantrums and demanding his rights to his woman RIGHT NOW. Besides, that's not what this book is about, someone's stalking Delphine which seems typical, but it becomes apparent rather quickly he's not your average Indy type Rock Chick stalker. This one is intent on getting Larue's (Delphine's) attention. If he doesn't people might die. 

The Girl In The Mist has an excellent bad guy creepy factor for me. It wasn't so intense that I couldn't finish the book, but it was absolutely clipping along at a pace quick enough that it kept my heart rate up. And that last roller coaster spin shocked me, I did not see it coming!! 5 Thrilling Stars for me!
