The Rookie, and new to me author Kimberly Kincaid, are PERFECTION!!

Tara and Xander are sweet, HOT, and just perfect!

Kimberly Kincaid's new novella, The Rookie, was the perfect way for me to get to know this new to me author!

Tara Kingston is preparing for a trial against one of the truly bad guys, Sansone. He doesn't mind making sure that those around him are either too scared to open their mouths about whatever they've seen, or too dead. So when Tara gets a phone call from her confidential informant who's apparently been injured in a home invasion, she doesn't hesitate in flying across town to Amour's home, never expecting to run into someone else she tried to prosecute for arson, among other things, a couple years ago.

Xander is used to having to settle his adrenaline, as a rookie cop it comes with the territory, but when he's helping a young woman get settled on a gurney promising no one is going to hurt her again, he certainly wasn't expecting the adrenaline spike that came with seeing Assistant District Attorney Tara Kingston storming through the door.

What follows is an adrenaline filled, quick paced ride through Tara and Xander getting to know each other past the initial mistrust they each hold, some incredibly sweet distractions Xander uses to take Tara's mind off what's going on around her, and a fun introduction to the crew of the Thirty-third precinct and Station Seventeen EMS & Fire Dept. 

An amazing last minute plot twist shows everyone they were keeping the wrong person safe all along as Sansone and his network work to make sure they've shut down his criminal case for good, and it's not clear if everything will work out in Tara and Xander's favor.

An excellent 5 star introduction to Kimberly Kincaid that has ensured I'll spend the next few months digging through her entire series, while waiting for Garza's story!
