Cam and Paige give me major SWOONY feelings!

Athica Lane is probably my favourite of Brynne Asher's Carpino's, and the beginning of the Montgomery family line.

There is something so special about Cam, so big, gruff, and ALPHA, and the way he melts when he's around his kiddos. He's been hurt so much in his previous marriage, done everything to protect his children, and now is just kind of trying to ride out his life convinced he can't have anything more because he won't risk anyone hurting his kids again ever. I love to hate him for a good little while in this book because he is SO COLOSSALLY STUPID when he can't figure out how to start trusting again, but at the same time I can kind of see why.

Paige is the sassiest of the Carpino women so far, and she gives as good as she gets in a meet cute that involves a grumpy hot guy and a wet t-shirt contest. She falls hard and fast though, kind of hard not to when she sees the grumpy hot guy giving an unexpected sweet to his daughter the very next day, and Paige knows exactly what she wants.

Rosa is the unexpected win in this book, a fun 85 year old spitfire, who at a low point reminds Paige not to fight Cam when he comes back, saying "don't make him work for it." She stole my heart with that, knowing precisely what both Cam and Paige would need!

The suspense elements Asher adds with a stalker who's determined to separate Cam and Paige, and has in mind a variety of sick and twisted plans is detailed enough to keep the reader busy between some increasingly hot, steamy time Paige and Cam, and Cam's meltdown when he learns what could be a deal breaker between them.

All in all a fun, HOT, sometimes teary, and always spirited 5 star ride with the Carpino's and the Montgomery's and the audible just brings it one level higher for the reader.
