My first novel by the funny AF Pippa Grant, and i managed to find the one designed to make me think about everything before sex & smexy times! 

Don't worry, if you're looking for the stupendously hilarious Pippa, she’s still here, and the first ten minutes of Not My Kind Of Hero I kind of gigglesnorted my way through! But it's also very apparent this book is designed to make you feel, and WOW! does it ever!!

I adored Maisey and Juniper and felt some serious rage on their behalf for everything they'd been through, even when Maisey tries to put a funny "look what happened to us" spin on it instead of wallowing in the misery of the last I dont know, SIXTEEN YEARS of her life?? Maisey is one of the strongest women I've ever read, even though you can feel a kind of underlying desperation to make DAMN SURE that Junie and everyone else know that she’s putting Juniper first. She’s not trying to find a man, she’s trying to find a home, and a hometown, that will accept her and her daughter.

Flint is very obviously lost and the typical "angry man" at the beginning of Hero. He wants to hate Maisey. After all she got everything he ever wanted, and she didnt even have to visit to get it. And now she won't even let him bring his students to Uncle Tony's farm, something about liability, blah, blah, hurt kids, falling barns. So what if Junie DID manage to knock down a barn with a well placed kick?

The best thing about Not My Kind of Hero is towards the end when you don’t know anymore which one is the Hero. Is it Maisey for being her typical bada$$ self and showing everyone how she can totally show up for her daughter, mother, the town, and heck yeah even Flint? Or is it Flint for giving Maisey and Juniper something they've never gotten to experience in their whole lives?

Pippa Grant is AMAZING, and I've fallen deeply in love with Not My Kind Of Hero. Five stars for a book that builds true love, acceptance, and redemption for two characters who have been searching their whole lives for the beauty they find in each other. This will definitely NOT be my last book by Pippa!!
