On The Ropes was the novel about coming home I didn't know I needed.

"You find the people who love you more loudly than the ones who don’t,” he said. “That’s your real family, your found family, in the end."

Two things I love best about Kathryn Nolan's novels, the male main characters are always good, kind men, even if you have to dig for it a little bit and every single novel has a sense of found family I don't often find elsewhere.

Dean and Tabitha were a true joy to get to know, both having strong ties to the LGBTQ+ community, and both having such tender, sweet spirits. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty (PLENTY) of steaming up the windows, but in the end their love is just everything!

Watching the neighborhood come together to put things to rights was one of the most swoony aspects! I loved, LOVED Rowan giving Dean the pep talks he needed, and Alice and Eddie talking about Annie's old place. Most important of all watching Tabitha reconnect with her family, and the honesty and laying bare of old ghosts was just heart wrenching.

An absolute 5 star treat, I'm silently (ok not so silently) hoping Kathryn has a plan for Rowan's story somewhere down the line. Every single story she writes makes me want to move to that city, and get to know the neighborhood.
